Not only is it thrilling that Georgia Street has retained it’s original name (whew!), but the best addition to the street for this gal: the sidewalk inserts with a bit of history–year, building name and a brief description. Love it!
And while I’ll refrain from offering opinion on some of the other aesthetics of the reinvented Georgia Street street scape, the other best part is seeing tons of people populating the street. You surely realize that 100+ years ago, that was typical–swarms of people out and about, doing their business about town. Here’s hoping for a renewed interest in being a downtown pedestrian and overall urban core explorer. Look up, look down, look around–wrap the city around you, create a memorable experience and share it with your friends, family and diary. That’s future history you’re participating in, Indianapolis.
