Some houses just make me smile with their sweet little details. Love the color of this house and all the cool architectural details. I love the recessed 2nd level window with the flanking small columns and corbels.
In a quick search, found a May 1911 classified ad for this address: “Depot wagon and harness. Practically new. Excellent condition.” Wonder if it was hitched at this post out front? It’s plausible–the resident at that time was “stone contractor” John B. Ittenbach.
Excellent! Herron-Morton was the heart of the “Near North Side” some fifty years later as the area became known as “Dodge City” (in the late 1960s…)
I thought between 22nd and Fall Creek was Dodge City? Maybe it all was, but not anymore. These days we’re dodging traffic more than anything else!
