Pandell's Florist 1601 N. Capitol

If you haven’t seen or heard yet, it seems this lovely building on the Northeast corner of Capitol and 16th could soon be history. Unless an acceptable offer is received in short order, this sweet space is a goner.

Evidently, the owner is willing to sell the beautiful tiles, even if the building is to be destroyed.

Since moving to Indianapolis I have had a little soft spot in my heart for this gorgeous 1930s gem. Passing by it often, I dream of it being occupied with a cafe, diner, bookstore, or really any business that would give me reason to frequent the building to view its beautiful facade. It’s wonderful that Historic Indianapolis provides attention to buildings, like this one, who are unable to speak for themselves but deserve a fair shake. I hope there is something that can be done to save it from the wrecking ball and avoid some vinyl-sided replacement.
