Preservation Denied: Pythian Building

Formerly standing guard at the intersection of Pennsylvania, Ohio (thanks for the correction) and Massachusetts Avenue, The Pythian Building was constructed in 1905-1906 and was said to be the second largest flatiron building in United States. It cost $517,700 to construct, with the land costing $47,500. The dedication was celebrated August 12-17, 1907. Again, a victim of the 1960s–a most destructive era for this city.

   I am surely sad that this building was not preseved. Such a shame.
