The W. D. Allison Company was known more for making furniture specific to the needs of physicians and doctors, as noted here, and as found in second hand stores and auctions today. In 1897, the company factory was listed at 85 East South Street, but by 1902, the business was established at 905 North Alabama Street (a parking lot today). This company was large enough to have branch offices located in Chicago, new York, St. Louis and San Francisco and even had selling agents in Mexico City! Imagine seeing such quality furniture in your doctors’ and dentists’ offices today.
I saw a salesman’s sample of an examination table made by the W D Allison Company on the tv show Antique Roadshow recently. Can you tell me who was W. D. Allison and what happened to the company?
