    As always, great article Joan! I’m curious: do you know what the large-ish birdhouse-looking structure is in photo #2 (just left of center)?

    If I’m not mistaken, it is part of the railroad. A watch tower to oversee rail traffic, possibilly control switches,signals for trains or public traffic accross tracks.

    Lisa, that’s a railroad watch tower. The RR tracks were just west of the Star Store.
